The CC Group Card Quest
The CC Group Side Quest can only be attempted on Disc 3; it takes place in Balamb Garden (if you already have the Ragnarok,
you can reach Balamb Garden by flying the Ragnarok over Fisherman's Horizon and pressing X to land; you will appear by the
Mayor's house--you'll find Balamb Garden where you left it). There are seven members in the CC Group; you must defeat them
in order. (1) Jack. Jack can be found in the Garden hallway near the Directory; he'll usually appear from the bottom
of the screen. He has no rare cards. (2) Club. Club can be found in the Garden hallway leading to the Cafeteria. He appears
at random, so you may need to exit and re-enter the screen a few times; he can be tricky to find. He has no rare cards. (3)
Diamond. Diamond is a pair of female students who can be found near the Directory. They have no rare cards. (4) Spade.
Spade will randomly appear with a friend near the second floor elevator entrance. He has no rare cards. (5) Heart. This
is Xu. She can be found on the Bridge of the Garden and has the Carbuncle Card. (6) Joker. Joker appears randomly in
the Training Center on the Screen with the Thunder Draw Point (one screen to the right of the Save Point). He has the Leviathan
card. (7) King. First, speak with Nina on the Bridge of the Garden. Next, go to the Infirmary and challenge Dr. Kadowaki
to a game; she'll tell you that you will soon meet the King. Return to your dorm room and repeatedly sleep until the King
appears. The King has the Gilgamesh card. If the CC Members won't challenge you, then you need to win a few more games playing
people at Balamb Garden. You need to win about 15 games total for them to challenge you.

Obel Lake Mystery
The Three Stars Quest Ragnarok will be necessary for this quest. In the circular lake to the north-west of Timber
you will see a spit of land on which a message will appear asking you either to throw a rock or hum a tune. If you take the
latter option, an invisible lake-dweller will appear and will ask you to find Mr Monkey, a friend of his who can be found
in the forest which is virtually enclosed by the plateau range to the north-west of Dollet. When you run into the monkey it
will not let you catch it, regardless of the option you choose. Return to Lake Obel and hum to reawaken the shadow. It will
be pleased and will allude vaguely to places of interest. Press the (X) button repeatedly to trigger a succession
of messages (and write these down). These are rather oblique hints to things that can be found, primarily, engraved stone
tablets. You will need to walk around the areas indicated, frequently pressing the (X) button to check for anything unusual.
Junction the "Enc-None" ability to make your search easier. You can find stone tablets at the following
locations: Clue 1 "You'll find something on an island east of Timber, too"
(Timber-Mandy Beach) Search the eastern part of the longish island just north of the bridge leading to Fisherman's
Horizon. Return to Obel Lake after you have found the tablet (you will have to do this every time), hum
for the shadow and trigger the next message. Clue 2 "at the beach in balamb, something
special washes ashore at times" (Balamb-Rinauld Coast) Search the eastern tip of the beach. You will
come across several very ordinary stones before finding the actual tablet. Clue 3 "there's
also somehing on top of a mountain with a lake and a cavern" (Galbadia, Lallapalooza Canyon) This alludes
to the plateau directly above the waterfall in the Lallapalooza area. Land there and search the edge
of the cliff until you trigger a message saying that you have found a bird's nest. Investigate and defeat the bird
parents to retrieve the stone tablet. The fourth stone tablet is a lot trickier to find. Return to Obel
Lake and keep throwing rocks until you receive the message: Clue 4 "The rock skipped
many, many times" (Dollet - Hasberry Plains) Now fly back to the monkey's forest, and move
around in it until you chance upon Mr Monkey and throw a rock at him twice. He will fling the last stone tablet
at you. After collecting all four tablets return to Obel Lake and call the shadow by humming. During
the conversation he will rearrange the tablets so that the message runs: S T S L R M
U R H A E O R E A I D R E A S N P D Reading this from top to bottom and from right
to left, you receive the hint: MORDRED PLAINS HAS TREASURE. Fly to
this strip of land north of Esthar City and begin your search in the northern part of Mordred Plains. Press the
(X) button repeatedly until you get told that "there are many multi-coloured rocks with faces all over the
place". Now walk along, pressing the (X) button at every step. You should only take note of the
comments of the red-faced rock. Whenever it comes up with a message, turn on the spot (with the L1 or R1 buttons)
and walk in the opposite direction of what you are told. If the rock says that "The treasure is
north!", walk south, and so on. Keep following the red rock's statements (reversing them each time) until
you are told that "the treasure is not here". Examine this place to receive a Three Star.
EXTRA TREASURE The shadow of Obel Lake also points towards a treasure that is considerably
simpler to find. Its remark "Take some time off at Eldbeak Peninsula" is to be taken literally. Fly to
the peninsula north of Balamb Island and search its southern tip. You will discover a stone pillar with
the inscription: TRETIMEASUREATMINOFFDEISLE If you delete the words "time
off" the measage reads: TREASURE AT MINDE ISLE Fly to the island located
to the south-west of Esthar and search the middle of the south-eastern tip of Minde Island. You will be rewarded
with a Luck-J Scroll.
Chocobo Forests
A Chicobo is a baby Chocobo, and plays a vital role in the game. Chicobos are baby Chocobos, and Squall needs to use them
to find a Chocobo. A Chocobo will only come out of hiding when only one Chicobo is out in the open. Also, a Chicobo named
Boco can be used on the Pocketstation to collect items after catching your first Chocobo. One special item, Mog's Amulet,
allows Squall to get the GF Minimog, and can only be found on the Pocketstaion. There are seven Chocobo Forests in the
world, each one containing Chocobos, Chicibos, and treasure. Chocobo Forests stand out because of their distinct circular
shape. The Chocoboy can be found in all of them. The Chocoboy is a kid that spends all of his time in the Chocobo Forests.
He will give Squall the ChocoWhis, and teach him how to use it. Pay careful attention when he explains how to use it, for
this is vital to solving the Chocobo Forests. If you want, you can just give up, and the Chocoboy will catch a Chocobo for
you (for a price). But the whole point is to figure it out for yourself, so only do this if you are hopelessly stuck. The
ChocoWhis has two parts, a ChocoSonar and ChocoZiner. The ChocoSonar is the part of the ChocoWhis that detects the location
of Chicobos. The beeping sound of the ChocoWhis will get faster if you come to a spot where you can call Chicobos. If you
are certain that you are in the right spot, you can then use the ChocoZiner to call the Chicobos. If you are in a place where
the ChocoSonar did not react, and use the ChocoZiner, your whistle will be stolen, and you will have to buy another one. If
you are in the right place, a certain amount of Chicobos will come down. To find treasure, you have to wait until you catch
a Chocobo, then use the ChocoZiner. If you use it in a spot that has treasure, the Chocobo will dig it up for you. You don't
have to worry about using the Sonar for this, just walk around using the ChocoZiner. The seven forests are listed below
in order from easiest to hardest. Not all of the forests can be accessed until Balamb Garden becomes mobile. The
Beginner's Forest Location: The Beginner's Forest is located next to Shumi Village on Winter Island. Chocoboy's advice:
"Try to find a spot where only one falls down." Solution: There is a spot to the southeast of Chocoboy where
only one Chicobo falls down. Use your ChocoSonar to find it. Treasure: After getting the Chocobo to come out, get the
Aura Stone in the northern part of the forest by pressing the ChocoZiner repeatedly until you find it. The Basics
Forest Location: The Basics Forest is in Sorbald Snowfield on Trabia's west coast, south of Shumi Village. Chocoboy's
advice: "You only need to blow the whistle twice." Solution: First, use the ChocoZinar in the center of the
forest. It is the only spot that is not next to a snowbank. There are two spots which can then be used to solve the forest,
both are on the southern snowbank. Treasure: There is a Flare Stone is the westernmost part of the forest. The Chocobo
will dig it up by using the ChocoZinar after the Chocobo reveals itself. The Roaming Forest Location: The Basics
Forest is north of Trabia Garden. Chocoboy's advice: "Be careful where the sonar reacts." Solution: First
off, use the ChocoZiner in one of two places. Either a spot right next to the Chocoboy, or in the northeast part of the forest.
Then use it in the center of the opened up part of the forest (the section that is not the path). Then, go all the way south
right next to the forest exit, and use the ChocoZiner again. Finally, return to the first spot and use the ChocoZiner one
last time to have only one Chicobo remaining. Treasure: Squall found a Shell Stone and Holy Stone there in the northern
part of the forest. Forest of Fun Location: The Forest of Fun is east of Edea's House in the Lenown Plains on
the Centra Continent. Chocoboy's advice: "Chocobowling with 4 bottles, 1 ball." Solution: It is possible
to set up the Chicobos as pins in this forest, and then knock them down with another Chicobo, like bowling. The first spot
to use the ChocoZiner in is the southernmost spot where the ChocoSonar reacts to. Then use it in either of the two spots that
are just a little east of the Chocoboy, which sets the pins. The next spot can be either at the easternmost or westernmost
part of the forest, which sets the ball. The "ball" will knock over all the other Chicobos over for a strike, so
it will be alone. This will make the Chocobo come out. Treasure: There is a Meteor Stone, Flare Stone, and an Ultima
Stone in the far eastern part of the forest. Forest of Solitude Location: If you don' have the Ragnorok, this
can be a very hard forest to find. Go to the Centra continent (south of FH), and go to the northernmost part. You will have
to disembark from the garden, and walk around a narrow path that goes around a mountain range to find this hidden forest.
Chocoboy's advice: "Search carefully where the Sonar reacts." Solution: This is a very simple, yet frustrating
Chocobo Forest. There is only one Chicobo in this forest, but he is very hard to find. The sole Chicobo is near the Chocoboy,
slightly to the northeast. It is very hard to find, Squall has to be in the exact right spot for the ChocoSonar to react.
Once you find it, the puzzle is solved. Treasure: Just like the forest and the puzzle, the treasure can be very difficult
to find. Squall has to talk to the Chocoboy after finding the Chocobo. He'll ask to play cards, but instead tell him to move
out of the way. A Protect Stone and a Meteor Stone are right where he was standing previously. The Enclosed Forest
Location: The Enclosed Forest is located on the south side of the Talle Mountains in southern Esthar. Chocoboy's
advice: "Collect on outer side, then go in." Solution: The first spot is in the northwestern part of the forest,
and the second spot is just a little south of it. The third location to use your ChocoZiner in is in the southeastern part
of the field (not the path). Spot four is in the upper-right, and the fifth and final spot is in the center of the field.
Treasure: Hidden in the most upper-right corner of the forest are a Meteor Stone, Holy Stone, and Ultima Stone.
The Chocobo Sanctuary Location: First of all, don't bother coming here until you've solved all of the other Chocobo
Forests, because you'll be wasting your time. To get there, you need to get a Chocbo from The Roaming Forest, and head across
the shallow part of the ocean into the Grandidi Forest. After exploring in the forest for a bit, you'll find it. Solution:
This forest isn't really a puzzle, but a reward for solving all of the other ones. Talk to a Chocobo and you will get the
one-of-a-kind Chicobo card. You can talk to a Chocobo again and got some Gysahl Greens, but the Chocobo will steal 600 Gil
from you.
Shumi Village
The village is found on the northernmost continent. Draw Ultima for a fee, if you like, then take the elevator and make
your way to the western-most house. Examine the statue, talk to the sculptor, then leave and head east to the house of the
village elder - a Moomba is in front of the door). After talking to the leader, return to the sculptor and agree to help.
Seek out the five stones scattered around Shumi village; when Squall is near a stone, he'll go "Huh...?", so examine
those areas carefully. After finding each stone, deliver it to the sculptor and get your next assignment. The blue stone is
in the large blue stone in the statue room. The wind stone is found in the pile of rocks on the first screen of the village,
near the hotel. The life stone is found up the tree in front of the village elder's house. The shadow stone is in a shadow
behind a pillar on the right side of the screen where you draw Ultima. The water stone is found in the artisan's sink his
house is just east of the statue building. After you return all five stones, head to the chief's house to be rewarded with
the phoenix pinion. Using it in battle simultaneously deals massive fire damage to your opponent and resurrects any deceased
party members.
PuPu Card
There is a rare card that can be obtained on disc 3. Equip Diablos' enc-none ability and search for four UFO sites around
the world. Enter location on foot. Run around and your party will enter an empty battle and watch a UFO pass by. The locations
are: 1. Outside of Winhill town 2. Mandy Beach, just NE of the town Timber 3. Heath Peninsula, an island
east of Trabia Garden just past a long beachy peninsula. 4. Kashkabald Desert, large sandy region SE of Centra continent.
After all sightings, fly the Ragnarok to the rocky cliffs above the chocobo shrine in the NE. Land, encounter a UFO
and defeat it. Finally head to the crater where Balamb Garden was and Encounter PuPu. Feed him 5 elixirs and you will be rewarded
with the PuPu card.
Winhill - The Missing Vase
On your visit to Winhill in Disc 2, a small, nearly worthless side-quest can be initiated where you hunt down missing vase
pieces. Maybe you've already found a few already and don't know what it's used for. Well, let's find out what that is first.
Talk to the guy on the stairs in the Mansion at Winhill. He's a little worried recently because weird things are happening
at his home, such as items being rearranged, which he's blaming on ghosts. He's especially distressed about losing his vase,
a family heirloom passed down for generations. Being the good hero person you are, you'll find that vase for him. The
problem is that the vase has been broken into several pieces and are scattered around Winhill. You've probably already picked
up one or two of these Vase Pieces if you're an observant gamer, but perhaps you'd need help finding the others. There's
only four pieces, which makes the task a lot easier. Here's all four locations: 1. You can find your first vase
piece in the mansion itself. See that statue in the left hand side of the room? Examine it. Someone says something like "Where's
my feet?" and your party members say a few confusing things. Walk away and the statue suddenly starts moving and falling
apart. A chicobo will appear, and leave behind the Vase Piece. 2. In the middle of Winhill, there's a very interesting
area called the Chocobo Crossing. You'll know this place by the funky chocobo music that's played here, and the caution sign
informing you of the crossing. Little chicobos run across the path. Try to get in their way. You'll kick a chicobo into the
air, and when you do, it'll drop several things. The first is a Vase Piece. You can also get a Phoenix Down and a Gysahl Greens.
Kick the little chicobos around enough a big mama chocobo runs out and kicks you out of the way. 3. Another one in Winhill
is at the Flower Residence in the middle of town. Examine the flowers at the bottom of the screen and the old lady talks about
Raine. Examine it a second time and Squall picks up a Vase Piece. 4. The last Vase Piece can be found in the Pub, which
is located on the left hand side of Town Square. (You might remember this as being Raine's residence in the flashback earlier
when Laguna lived in town.) In fact, it appears the ghost of Raine still haunts this place. Visit the artist now living on
the second floor, and then talk to her cat. Go downstairs, and examine the white flower on the table in the lower right corner
of the pub. Raine's ghost reappears, only to disappear into the cat. Try talking to the cat again, and you'll find the last
Vase Piece. Finally, take them all back to the guy in the mansion. He'll give you a Holy Stone for your troubles;
after all, it appears all the weird activities weren't caused by ghosts after all, but rather the chicobos. Well, who would've
thought it?
